Derek McDonnell is one of the directors and founding partners of Hordern House, the Sydney rare book and manuscript dealers who are supporters of SWD.

He explains: "I see a real fit between our business and SWD -- a surprising one perhaps, but since we specialise in rare books about voyages and discovery, and of course about Australia, sailing and ocean passages are a natural continuation of what started with Cook, and with Columbus and Vasco da Gama and all the others before him. For me the very significant fact that SWD competes in the real world, and not only in a disabled milieu, makes it even more attractive. Their results in the Sydney-Hobart are of course the more glamorous end of it, but as a Sydney-sider and a sailor myself, to see that the organisation gets some 3000 disabled children onto the water every year as well as undertaking this competitive sailing is quite remarkable. We are very happy to be sponsors of this splendid organisation and hope that we may be able to introduce some other supporters."

RFD is proud to be a supporter of SWD. RFD MD Mark Barker is an active sailor at the CYCA, the same club where the SWD boat is berthed.

Prior to becoming involved as a sponsor, Mark personally spent time on the SWD boat and helped out as a crewman on several occasions.

“Having experienced the wonderful work of the SWD people, in particular the compassionate and thoughtful way that they work with the disabled sailors, I was very comfortable for RFD to move forward and become involved as a sponsor.”

Safety is an integral aspect of SWD. RFD recognised that due to their disabilities, both adults and children need a heightened level of awareness and the appropriate RFD equipment to ensure their personal safety.

RFD willingly has become a supporter and has donated an extensive range of RFD safety equipment.

Corporate Sail Day
The opportunity of a corporate afternoon (4 hours) spent on a grand-prix ocean racing yacht on Sydney Harbour.

Space for up to 16 staff / clients (plus crew).

Wednesday Twlight Races (Summer Daylight saving time)
The CYCA Twilight Series is very popular and has the largest number of entrants for evening races on Sydney Harbour. These fun events are still highly competitive and offer an exhilarating race experience with the opportunity to sample the “Apres – race” on the deck of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia afterwards.

Sailors with disABILITIES is offering 10 crew places for clients and / or staff on 20 races. Experience the fun and excitement of competitive sailing onboard a grand-prix ocean racing yacht on Sydney Harbour. The following items are included in this sponsorship package:

Opportunity for your corporate logo to be displayed on the boat (in the form of a banner tied along the life lines – 3 x 0.6m).
Advertisement on the SWD website with your corporate logo and link to your website.
Option for merchandise (shirts, hats etc) incorporating SWD and your Corporate logos (at an additional cost).
Exposure to all collateral, public relations activities, programs and prize acknowledgments.
Exposure to any media coverage SWD receives during the series.
Company access to all benefits of a grand-prix ocean racing yacht sailing on Sydney Harbour for corporate clients and executives.

AUDI Winter Series
The AUDI Winter Series is the only opportunity to race on Sydney Harbour during the low or winter season. Sailors with disABILITIES offers the opportunity to participate in this event to disabled sailors. This is the only way that they can experience the thrill of racing a grand-prix ocean racing yacht, at a very competitive level alongside a highly experienced crew who can cater for (and in some cases, relate to) their special needs. The following attributes are included in this sponsorship package:

4 crew places for staff or clients on all 12 races. Experience the fun and excitement of competitive sailing onboard a top-class racing yacht on Sydney Harbour.
4 places at the end of season awards presentation dinner.
Exposure to all collateral, public relations activities, programs and prize acknowledgments.
Opportunity for signage on the boat (1m x 3m on hull), mainsail (same size) and on 1 spinnaker (at cost to be arranged).
Corporate logo displayed on crew uniform, alongside SWD logo.
Advertisement on the SWD website with your corporate logo and link to your website.
Exposure to any media coverage SWD receives during the series.
Company access to all benefits of a grand-prix ocean racing yacht sailing on Sydney Harbour for corporate clients and executives.

Sydney Youth Program
This program is designed to enable Sailors with disABILITIES to invite more disabled / disadvantaged children and adults from Sydney and the surrounding areas, to come aboard and experience the thrill of sailing a grand prix ocean racing yacht around Sydney Harbour. It comprises of a total of 16 separate days. The following attributes are included in this sponsorship package:

The opportunity of two corporate afternoons spent on a grand-prix ocean racing yacht on Sydney Harbour (16 places on each day).
Company access to all benefits of a grand-prix ocean racing yacht on Sydney Harbour for corporate clients and executives.
Advertisement on the SWD website with the display of your Company logo and a link to your website.
Company name referred to on children’s certificates.
Exposure to the associated groups, schools and organizations.
Acknowledgement and signage on the boat and crew uniforms, as a secondary sponsor, for the Sydney to Hobart campaign.
Opportunity for the company logo to be used on hats for the children, alongside the SWD logo.
Exposure to any inter-state and national media coverage associated with the program.
Opportunity for your corporate logo to be displayed on the boat (in the form of a banner tied along the life lines (3 x 0.6m).
Option to involve your staff on a hands-on basis. 3 places on each of the youth days to help the SWD crew, as visitors.

We offer various sponsorship packages that will help with the growth of Sailors with disABILITIES, and making this dream a reality.

Each sponsorship package has a different value and consequently a varying amount of benefits. We guarantee that all packages will involve supporting and enabling disabled sailors and developing and expanding the opportunities available to both disabled and disadvantaged children and adults.

Each Package is only a guideline. Sailors with disABILITIES is happy to discuss any variations to the packages or design a tailor made sponsorship package more suited to your corporate requirements.
